Phoenix Rising Center was established in 1998 as a community based educational organization. We currently offer ongoing classes and seminars in Taiqi, Qigong, martial arts (Kung fu), and meditation. We also provide individual client services in naturopathic medicine and Western physical and energetic body therapies. Our intention and primary focus is the cultivation of health and well being through increased awareness and sensitivity of qi, or energy. We advocate health, transformation, and full potential of life.

As chaos and conflict tax our physical and mental health, this stress overtime can create a variety of problems, from the smallest aches and pains to chronic illnesses. Through the structure and ease of our classes, students learn how to greatly manage and finally transform the stresses of the mind, along with any postural or health challenges in the body. They learn how to facilitate development of body efficiency, healing, and joy with the focus of the mind and the knowing wisdom of the heart.

Our students range in age from nine to eighty years old, with backgrounds and interests as varied as the range of ages. Beginners, as well as advanced students, will be challenged in greatest place of learning. People that want to address health issues or specific injuries learn forms and exercises most appropriate for their needs. Athletes learn how to increase their performance and reduce the risk of injury. People, who are stressed learn how to relax and cultivate greater ease in their lives with fuller expression and directness, synchronizing the body and mind.

Our classes are small in size, so students are given a lot of personal time and are encouraged to share any questions or insights that they may have. This ongoing dialogue between students and teachers creates an atmosphere rich in creativity and impeccability where students explore how their attitudes and intentions affect the outcome of a particular action or movement.

What is Taiqi and Qigong? They are art forms of slow body movements using mindful awareness. These attentive movements allow the mind to slow down and the body to relax so awareness can begin to come forth. There are three focuses. Physical awareness teaches how to use the body together as one unit with ease for greater performance and strength. Emotional awareness teaches how to feel all sensations such as anger, confusion, peace, excitement, etc. and be at ease with them. Mental awareness teaches how to focus the mind with clarity and ease to accomplish tasks with full commitment.
